"Wisconsin has the highest "black incarceration rate" 4, 058 per 100.000 of total population. .With the passage of the 13th amendment and the reconstruction period certain segments of population were targeted for repression, isolation and incarceration - to be criminalized, stigmatized, and ostracized. Oust/outcast from mainstream society. All under da color of law. A government secret program. To effectively end crime we would have to deal with the cause to find a solution, end poverty, lack of equal opportunity and education, stop the segregation and isolation of different segments in our society. This would be a good start. Cuz we would have ended discrimination which crushes dreams and self esteem. A key to happiness and success is said to be something to love, something to do, something to hope for:. Believing and feeling we are part of something. Marcel proust: "The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes. "

It is said, "that one should stand in his/her own truth and fight in ones own armor, regardless of conditions and demonstrate the power to transform our own consciousness". That's where we are at today, finding a common ground with those on the opposite end of the spectrum in life, as well as with life. You've been the bridge for many whose lives you touch in hope, faith, and love. That human touch in an inhumane environment, and we are hopeful and thankful for those of you who go the extra mile for those who have been written off, and sometimes robbed of liberty, justice, and opportunities to be part and/or partial to our community, the human family. You've shown good will and gained the trust and respect of those who are sometimes forgotten, even lost. A Chinese proverb goes: "If you are planning for a year, sow rice, if you are planning for a decade, plant trees, if you are planning for a life time, educate people"...

You are invited to comment anonymously on the blog or send a prisoners a nurturing card or letter.

You can use FFUP’s return address and be anonymous, sign “a friend”, or you could take the plunge and begin a correspondence. Use our address if you wish to send a card:

As he explains in his post, he is mentally ill and is asking for help in getting “beyond the point where he feels he needs to fight the system”. He is in prison for a money crime ( related to gambling addiction). Many prisoners go through years of acting out at every humiliation and find themselves forever with conduct reports, in segregation etc. It is along learn , to learn that “you are captain of your own soul” . Please consider sending him a note of encouragement either by mail or through commenting on this blog. He will be updating his post regularly.
Julius Bonds Julius is another that has remade himself and is working hard at getting parole. His friends call him "BO". he is very lonely.

Jack Bailey 136683
 PO Box 233
Black River Falls, WI 54615
Jack Bailey is one of the some 3-4 thousand inmates convicted before truth in sentencing , eligible for parole consideration after 12 years and still sitting in prison after 30 years. While FFUP works on crafting an elderly release bill that would give a real path for release for prisoners over 55, Jack is trying to open his criminal case, claiming that all evidence was circumstantial. Here is a copy of his Application to the UW Innocence Project and a letter from him. A note of encouragement would mean much. There are many people like Jack in prison senselessly. See our parole blog  Read here studies of the growing health care crisis in our prisons due the no parole policy .

Juan Quentin Ward 275760
PO Box19033
 Green Bay, WI 54307
Juan is acutely aware of the injustices in our “just- us” system . He has spent the last to decades trying to prove his innocence, He also helps other prisoners with their legal work and has written a book. It was a particularly struggle for him to endure the system , as it often is for those who see themselves as innocent, and the racism of the system has been hard for him to stomach. Also, Like many others, he has taken his difficult learning and passes it on to the younger inmates. See his blog with essays here:

They would appreciate knowing someone cares.
here are some blogs of other incredible people in our prison
DarRen Morris" goal Setting guide " :
In Administrative confinement a person can be kept in solitary for unlimited time because they are deemed some kind of threat,. The requirements are vague and this kind of solitary , used around the country in different guises, keeps thousands of people entombed. Many are mentally ill in solitary because the society does not know what to do with them , many are what we call political prisoners- if out, they would be leaders taking the country in new direction.
For the curious

rough, quick summary of introduction.

“since being here I noticed that the Doc staff try to make your time hard instead of just letting you do your time; they write bogus conduct reports and lie on them all the time. .. After being in DOC for a year I was sent here to WSPF to do a 360 which is a year in segregation. did my 360 , then I was placed on AC ( Administrative confinement)which they can keep you on for as long as they want..”
Vincent tells of WSPF refusal to let him do program that would allow him to get to general and rule violations by health care staff. They are, for , example supposed to by law do wellness rounds in the segregation cells and that never happens.
”I spend my time fighting the administration trying to get things right but I need help from the public because after all , it's your tax dollars that they're misusing, they're lying to the public about s a program that doesn't work, and they are just pocketing the money because the program is false. They have us doing booklets that they run off copies. Answering questions about our families, anger and personal things that has nothing to do with the behavioral problems or issues. His A/C program is bogus. People need to know.
Everybody in here aren't bad people just made bad choices, which we are paying the price dearly for moire that the public know we're dealing with racism everyday in here from all the DOC staff. We're lied on and lied to, locked on our cells 23 hours a day. …(details of treatment , conduct reports).

I just want something to be done about it..because we don't deserve to be treated like we are being treated in here. I would like to share one last thing about me. I cut and do hair by trade; I'm a people person and I'm honest and loyal. Loyalty means a lot to me!

These are light but worth reading - describes conditions well.  Click once to view larger > to get back , click x in right corner.

Jamaris Hooker

Jamaris Hooker 331313;
WSPF; PO Box 9900; Boscobel, WI 53805

Jamaris is 29 and has just been placed on administrative confinement-which is an indefinite stay in solitary. He has no family support.
. I hope you are able to send him a note. He is now 24/7 alone.

Here is an essay he submitted for our Bridge of Voices Newsletter ( this will be going into the April edition) , followed by his introduction to the world.

                                                     Time Constraints
Jamaris Hooker 331313
WSPF ; PO Box9900
Boscobel, Wi 53805
When you think of the four letter word time what logical conclusion do you reach? Time happens to be indefinate as we know it. The human awareness/consciousness gives off the perception that time is indestructible, even though the mere human is hunted by mortality. You hear people us the terms as ”it was as if time stopped”. We hear of time warps. Time Dimensions. Time Machinmes. Time lapses and teleportation devices where material objects can be moved from one place to another in a small window of time.  Think of radio and sound waves, communicating with someone via a telephone thousands of miles away. You can converse with someone in  China from the USA and the effects of this can be heard  instantaneous virtually, isn’t that amazing? Radio waves travel quickly through wooden walls, steel , brick, water, almost everything on planet earth, at an astonishing velocity.
The physical human body and other forms of physical substances on the contrary is confronted with a different obstacle. Cell regeneration, deterioration and restoration is a much more formidable task to accomplish! Once the physical components of the human body has been dyced into microscopic particles it is seemingly impossible for them to be massed or conglomerate back in symmetrical form. Certain species on planet earth have the ability to recreate limbs after they lost them . Their body grows the lost skin tissues and bone back in perfect hormony . Humans have the ability to heal from lacerations, deep puncture wounds etc. Skin regrows, blood is replaced but when we kill of certain cells they are gone forever.
Light travels 6 trillion miles in the span of one year at a whopping rate of 186,000 miles per second. Has it ever occurred to you that the natural laws of physics has the human being confined to only a small corner of the vast universe but outside the laws of physics exist a more advanced set of laws which the mortal human cannot attain by any means. Jesus was able to pass through walls after he was converted to the spirit. He was able to manifest himself into human form and back into spiritual body at will . From the religious perspective the Bible teaches is that you will not need blood to circulate through your body to live or absorb oxygen to remain in existance.
Time exists in three stages- the past , present and the future. If radio waves can travel outside our solar system then why can’t we? This shows how primitive man really is in comparison to the universe, with all the other planets that exist outside our solar system and the physical human not being able to travel to those regions should speak volumes to you and unlock the mysteries of the universe that has been hidden in plain sight. The Big Bang Theory, i.e., when you think of an explosion things tend to project outward in randomness but the big bang implies that this matter constructively formed in order  which signals a creatorr outside the whole existance and laws of the universe as we know it to be.
Much like the mother and her offspring the infant is no longer dependant in respects to the gestation period of survival. The child breathes ,expells body fluids and fecal matter from it’s anal orifice on its own. The universe is held in order by the laws of physics. If the systematic design was not in place then the structure of the entire universe would collapse ,for true science finds GOD  waiting behind every door, says Pope Pius XII. Think if you will about the knowledge we have acquired, about time space travel, hidden dimensions and seize the moment to understand it.

this is light, but interest8ing to read if you take the time- we will be working to darken and/or transcribe it.
